As an historic country house hotel, the See Villa combines the elegance of the past with the luxury of the present. It is this philosophy that we live every day at our house as we seek to enchant our guests with the tradition and flair of imperial history.
For the last 40 years, the See Villa has been managed by us, the Tacolis. We are an an aristocratic family of Italian origin. Since 2014, the See Villa has been in the capable hands of our youngest generation. A commitment to continuity, a passion for hospitality and the personal touch of all of the family and the See Villa team are what makes it possible for us to live our vision of creating a unique holiday experience and delighting our guests.
Given the age of the house, (constructed in 1884) the diversity of our rooms is one of its most striking features. No two rooms are alike and each and every room and piece of furniture (most of which was part of the original furnishings from 1884) has its own story to tell. All of this lends the house a genuine historical feel and this is what makes it so unique.
As you might imagine, the most important material in our house is wood. The original wooden stairs, wood panelling, traditional wardrobes and suite tables all create an atmosphere of comfort, closeness to nature and warmth.
Only the best quality materials are used in our rooms. In our bathrooms and in our spa we provide piquet bath towels and natural cosmetics
In line with our mission statement of “combining the elegance of the past with the luxury of the present”, we invest much time and effort into maintaining the history of the house while keeping our technology up to date. For our 130th anniversary in 2014, we installed; solar panels (which makes our house more environmentally friendly and saves up to 80% of our energy.) modern box spring beds, and a herb and vegetable garden for our kitchen. In 2015 and 2016, we fortified the flood defences of our lakeside park and equipped our seminar and conferences rooms with state of the art technology.
2018 is an exciting year for us because it is the first in our history that we are open all year round. This year we are we are investing in insulation and other energy saving measures, while improving our facilities to better cater to Winter sport guests. We will also be working with companies and tourism agencies from the Millstatt region to promote our area as a Winter destination. We also plan to expand our restaurant area and renovate the gym with natural materials.
